Cyclosporin (trough)
REQUESTING AND COLLECTING

Ordering:
For trough sample collect at least 12 hrs after previous dose, preferably

in the morning. Indicate as trough sample on request form.

Collection:
Do not collect in tubes containing separator gel. Do not collect in tubes

containing separator gel. Do not collect from infusion line (Cyclosporin

has been shown to bind to PVC infusion sets).
Container(s):
EDTA (5 mL purple-top) - preferred

GENERAL INFORMATION

Test use:
Monitoring therapeutic use of cyclosporin.

Availability:
Test performed Mon - Fri for routine (Sat/Sun on call). Samples in lab

by 12:30 Mon-Thur and 11 am Fri for same day service. Results

available after 3:30 pm on day of sample arrival in laboratory.

Reference Intervals:
Heart-lung transplant - trough levels:

Wks 1&2: 300-400 ug/L

Wks 3-8: 250-320 ug/L

Mnth 2-3: 210-280 ug/L

Mnth 3-6: 180-250 ug/L

Mnth 6-12: 140-210 ug/L

Mnth >12: 100-180 ug/L

Renal Transplant - trough levels:

<6 mnth: 190-280 ug/L

> 6 mnth: 70-190 ug/L

Bone Marrow Transplant - trough level:

100-210 ug/L (with methotrxate)
