Fluorescence In Situ Hybridisation (FISH)
on Paraffin Sections

Fluorescence In Situ Hybridisation (FISH) on paraffin sections is performed in the Department of Anatomical Pathology in collaboration with the Department of Cytogenetics.

Important Notes:

  • Paraffin FISH analysis is not funded by Medicare and costs $325 per test. The referring laboratory will be billed unless other arrangements have been made. We will not directly bill patients unless we have their signed agreement to pay (download Patient Payment Agreement form). Enquiries about this, or other aspects of the test should be directed to Dr Adrienne Morey on (02) 8382 9218

  • A specific request form is required. This can be downloaded in pdf format here FISH request form.

  • HER-2 FISH in patients with metastatic breast cancer and equivocal HER-2 immunohistochemistry is still funded by Roche. In future other breast cancers will be triaged by HER-2 CISH.
